I will be very honest. I love a ton of stuff I likely shouldn’t and you’ll find just about everything that I have ever liked or like to reread, or just sounds pretty on here. This is under constant revision.
ANIME/MANGA
Inter Nos by Ethnewinter. One of the best Mai Hime fanfics out there. And even if you don’t like anime, if you like Roman civilizations and lesbians and power struggles, this is the one for you. Shizuru/Natsuki
Volume One by Ethnewinter. Not so much random one-shots over all as random one-shots within a self-made universe. Another Mai-Hime story. Shizuru/Natsuki
Egg Belly by Cloverfield. Humorous, Negima! fanfiction. Also, lengthy at 140,900 words for eleven chapters. Very good look at demon heritage and a pregnancy. Setsuna/Konoha.
Pack by Raven-Pen. An InuYasha fanfic. Good look into the cultures we didn’t get to see in the original work and stays close to characterization for the most part. Very political for its fandom.
BOOKS
Rise Against The Dark Tide by SoJoGoGo. Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Harry Potter crossover, from the beginning of both of the seasons. Very good look at Willow, sparsely updated but very brilliant. eventual Willow/Tara, Harry/Ginny, and Hermione/Viktor Krum
Entwined by MetalDragonKiryu. Alternative book four of Harry Potter, involves minor time travel. Fleur/Hermione
Crazy Little Things by dreiser. Harry Potter fanfiction, non-epilogue compliant. Interesting story, involves experimental magic, mystical creatures and Indian food. Luna/Hermione.
TV SHOWS
In A Handbasket by isawsparks. South of Nowhere fanfiction, Spencer is in love with her sister-in-law, Ashley. Very excellent descriptions and lovely characters.
The Glass Case by isawsparks. A later work, so better descriptions and even better characterization. A bit of a role-reversal for Ashley and Spencer. Best read as an original work.
Angel Town by tamaraface. A beautiful, angsty South of Nowhere fanfic, especially if you like lifetime movies. Don’t front, they’re everyone’s guilty pleasure.
imposters in this country by goingtoqueens. The fanfic that turned me onto RPF. Then, after you read that, go and read everything else she wrote. This is my boo and she deserves some love.
At The Centerfold of the Storm by Shado Commander. I thought that it’d be pretty stupid, but to be honest, it reads a lot like an early James Patterson novel or a better Tom Clancy novel, so pretty much a shitload of suspense and sex and smart characters. Just about all the villains are featured and the current arc kills me. It’s funny and smart and there are parts that are a little confusing at first read, right up until you reach that part in the fic and even the tiny little details make sense. The relationship between Kim and Shego is better than I anticipated, but even if love is one of the themes, it’s not a romance story in any way, shape, or form. It’s also the longest on here at almost three hundred thousand words and still incomplete.
MOVIES/COMICS
Bucky/Steve recs Top-notch list of Captain America/Sergeant James Barnes fanfiction. Read most of these, loved them.
ACTUAL BOOKS
Beautiful Children by Charles Bock. This is one of my favorite books, to the point where leaving a review would be stupid here. The actual review I’ve written is a little long, possibly a few spoilers, but here.
